The Taylors Wines Summer House of Shiraz was unveiled last week and The Thirsty Travellers were were lucky enough to score an invite.
Following on from the success of last year’s Cellar Door at Sea, the event continues Taylors Wines’ celebration of enjoying perfectly chilled reds during summer.

Guests were taken by water taxi to a Point Piper mansion that had been transformed into an exclusive summer backdrop for the tasting event.
Once ashore, the 90-minute immersive experience commenced as guests explored various red varieties chilled to their optimal temperature.

We learned that a Pinot Noir is best served at around 12-14C, while a Tempranillo blossoms at 14-16C and Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are perfectly poured at 16-18C.
After tasting four perfectly chilled reds, we chose our favourite wine to sip – tempranillo for Ginger and Shiraz for DJ – as we enjoyed the harbourside ambience. DJ also loved chatting to chief winemaker Mitchell Taylor about his beloved wines.
Summer House Chef and 2015 My Kitchen Rules winner Will Stewart also prepared a selection of delicious summer dishes to accompany the wines.
We had a fabulous time at the event, although all our photos look like they have a sepia filter on them due to the harrowing bushfire smoke that still hangs over the city.
